Why It Matters
Under Martyn’s Law, premises with a capacity of between 200 and 799 people fall into the Standard Tier. These are spaces where simple but vital safety procedures can make a significant difference in the event of an incident.
The Standard Tier recognises that while these venues may not host the largest crowds, they are still vulnerable to risk — and deserve the same commitment to public protection.

What It Involves
If your venue falls within the Standard Tier, you will be required to:
NOTIFY
Notify the Security Industry Authority (SIA) that you are responsible for your premises.
Implement simple protective procedures that are appropriate and reasonably practicable, including:
Evacuation:
Moving people safely away from danger.
Invacuation:
Bringing people to safer areas within the premises.
Lockdown:
Quickly alerting everyone on site to a threat or incident.
Communication:
Quickly alerting everyone on site to a threat or incident.
You will also need to ensure that these procedures are clearly communicated to all staff, volunteers, and contractors who need to act in an emergency.
